SoHo Residence - New York, NY

This project includes the renovation and restructuring of an existing two-building property used 100+ years ago as an ersatz jailhouse. In addition to providing a comprehensive load takedown for geotechnical foundation review, AVRO evaluated the existing masonry structure in coordination with the reconstruction of a previously added floor. The design includes a duplex residence with a rooftop pool interposed between three occupiable, planted deck areas. AVRO was Engineer of Record for restoration of existing construction, new superstructural elements, skylight and office/greenhouse, plus an interior feature staircase.
