Bobst Library - New York, NY
Architect: Joel Sanders Architect
Client: SHoP Construction
Modernist architect Philip Johnson designed Bobst Library in 1968 to include a 12-story interior atrium surrounded by balcony walkways and work spaces. In collaboration with Joel Sanders Architect and the university client, AVRO developed a secure yet visually porous structural veil to wrap the atrium surface. The result is a diaphanous visual play compatible in scale, color and detail to the original design. AVRO provided structural design and detailing, direction on BIM modeling and constructability review plus Engineer of Record services for this 70,000 sq. ft. system.
